HIGHLIGHTS: Watch all the action from a thrilling qualifying session at Sochi
Last time out at the Italian Grand Prix McLaren grabbed a shock one-two, and this weekend in Russia the good times continued for the Woking team after Lando Norris sealed a sensational maiden pole position in Sochi.
Norris followed Daniel Ricciardo home in second place at Monza, but he was the one in the limelight in Russia after he overcame tricky wet/dry conditions to take his first ever Formula 1 pole, ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and George Russell in the Williams, in a surprise front three.
Of the two title protagonists, Max Verstappen barely featured, knowing he will start from the back of the grid anyway thanks to an engine grid penalty, while Lewis Hamilton was faring much better until he clonked the wall in the pit lane on his way in for slick tyres, before spinning on his final run.
There was doubt that qualifying could even go ahead because of the torrential rain that had fallen at the track all morning on Saturday. But it cleared just in time, and thank goodness it did, because the fans were treated to a thrilling fight for pole under grey Russian skies. Hit play on the video above to see all the action...
