Lando Norris grabbed his fourth pole position of the season at Spa, pipping his team mate as McLaren locked out the front row ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. But there were plenty of interesting results up and down the grid, with Yuki Tsunoda making Q3 but Lewis Hamilton tumbling out in Q1. Here are some of the best facts and stats from Qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps…
- Norris, Piastri and Max Verstappen all have four pole positions this season.
- Piastri bagged his seventh consecutive top three start. The Australian has won as many Grands Prix from P2 on the grid as he has from pole.
- Charles Leclerc was third, his fourth top three start of the year. His final Q3 lap was just 0.003s ahead of Verstappen.
- The Dutchman was fourth. While Verstappen has won from a record 10 different grid positions in his career, nobody has ever won at Spa from P4.
- This is Verstappen’s highest start at Spa since 2021, after incurring grid penalties at the last three races here.
- This is the first time Verstappen has not been ‘quickest’ over one lap in Q3 here since 2020.

- Alex Albon was fifth, tying his best start at Spa – he was also P5 for Red Bull in 2020. This is his and his team’s best starting grid slot since Las Vegas 2023.
- It was the Thai drivers’ eighth Q3 of the season, to match his entire total from last year.
- George Russell was sixth, making the Silver Arrows the third-fastest Mercedes-powered team in Q3.
- This is the second year in a row that Russell starts sixth here.
- Tsunoda was seventh, as he managed his first-ever Q3 at Spa. He will start his 100th career Grand Prix from his highest grid position for Red Bull.
- Isack Hadjar was eighth, his highest start since Monaco while his team mate grabbed ninth, his second top 10 start in the last three races.
- Gabriel Bortoleto was 10th, reaching Q3 after initially being knocked out in Q1. He was reinstated when Hamilton’s lap time was deleted.
- Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman missed out on Q3 for Haas, despite both making it to SQ3 and both scoring in the Sprint.
- Ocon’s P11 is the best Grand Prix start here for Haas since 2019.
- Bearman now trails Ocon 7-6 in their Qualifying head-to-head this season.

- Pierre Gasly was 13th, having started 12th here for the past two years.

- Carlos Sainz could only manage P15 – qualifying nine places lower for the Grand Prix than he managed for the Sprint.
- Hamilton was 16th, after he lost his final lap time in Q1 to track limits. It was Ferrari’s first Q1 elimination since Sainz at Abu Dhabi in 2023.
- Hamilton finished fourth from 16th on the grid in his final Mercedes start in Abu Dhabi last season.
- Franco Colapinto was 17th, suffering his fourth Q1 elimination in the last six race weekends.
