GALLERY: F1 returns to Nurburgring for Pirelli tyre test with Mercedes and McLaren
Pirelli kicked off their latest tyre development test with George Russell and Oscar Piastri on Tuesday.
Mercedes and McLaren were back in action on Tuesday as they helped tyre supplier Pirelli with another development test – this time staged at the famed Nurburgring track, which last hosted F1 back in 2020.
Following on from last week’s wet-tyre session at Fiorano with Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, Pirelli headed to Germany for a planned dry-weather programme.
George Russell and Oscar Piastri started at the wheel for Mercedes and McLaren respectively, with an initially wet track gradually drying up and allowing them to work through several runs testing construction variants of the C3 compound.
F1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli and reigning champion Lando Norris took over from their team mates for Wednesday’s running, before attention moves to the season resumption in Miami in a fortnight’s time.
