Last year, Charles Leclerc grabbed his first pole position at his home race of Monaco, nailing his first lap in Q3 to grab the top spot. His team mate Carlos Sainz couldn’t match that time, his own effort netting him fourth on the grid.
As for what might have happened had they completed their second flying runs in Q3, that will be a forever unknown after Leclerc crashed, bringing out the red flags and ending the session early.
