HIGHLIGHTS: Catch up as Piastri beats Norris in sole Free Practice session for Qatar Grand Prix
Teams and drivers had just one-hour of Free Practice ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix.
Oscar Piastri pipped McLaren team mate and title rival Lando Norris in the single Free Practice session ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, with the Sprint format in play for the final time in 2025.
The Australian, who trails Norris by 24 points in the Drivers' Championship, posted a 1m 20.924s to beat his team mate by 0.058s at the Lusail International Circuit, the latter having had several off-track moments.
Fellow title rival Max Verstappen could only manage P6, nearly six-tenths adrift of Piastri, with Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) also ahead.
Sprint Qualifying will take place later today ahead of the Sprint on Saturday.
