HIGHLIGHTS: Hamilton claims victory over Verstappen and Norris in wet/dry Silverstone classic
Lewis Hamilton sent the home crowd wild by charging to victory in a dramatic, rain-hit British Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, leading home Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.
Hamilton moved to the fore as drivers returned to slick tyres following mid-race showers that had enforced a switch to intermediates, taking full advantage of a slow stop for Norris.
Hamilton then fended off a brief fight back from Norris, whose pace subsequently dropped off and saw him overhauled by Verstappen a few laps from the chequered flag.
As he crossed the line to huge cheers from the grandstands and grass banks, Hamilton logged a record ninth win at a single Grand Prix venue, and also his first victory since Saudi Arabia in 2021.
Oscar Piastri, Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top six positions, with George Russell agonisingly dropping out of contention – and the race itself – due to a suspected water system issue.
