HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the Azerbaijan GP as Verstappen dominates, Sainz seals a podium and Piastri crashes
Victory went to Max Verstappen in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which started with a dramatic crash for championship leader Oscar Piastri.
Max Verstappen dominated the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after championship leader Oscar Piastri crashed out on the opening lap.
Verstappen controlled Sunday’s race in Baku, winning by almost 15 seconds from George Russell and Carlos Sainz. With Lando Norris only seventh and Piastri a non-scorer, the Red Bull driver also closed the points gap to 68.
Following a chaotic opening lap, which included Piastri’s Turn 5 crash, the race became a tactical battle, with teams attempting to use the undercut to move their drivers up the order.
Boosting their points totals with much-needed strong performances were Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda in fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively, with the trio fending off Norris in seventh.
Following a strong start to the weekend, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc could only manage eighth and ninth places for Ferrari.
