Carlos Sainz was the fastest man during FP2 in Mexico City, with the Ferrari driver leading the timings in the 90-minute session that was dedicated to Pirelli tyre testing.
But there were still plenty of talking points as George Russell crashed out heavily just over 10 minutes into the session to bring out the red flags, the Mercedes man fortunately walking away from the incident.
Meanwhile Red Bull's Max Verstappen was unable to put a time on the board due to an engine issue with the world champion facing an early end to his Friday. Alex Albon was also unable to join the action on track as his Williams team were still working to rebuild the FW46 following his collision with Ollie Bearman during first practice.
