HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action from Sprint Qualifying as Piastri snatches pole from Russell and Norris in Qatar
Oscar Piastri bounced back from a run of disappointing results to claim pole position for the Sprint in Qatar.
Oscar Piastri stormed to pole position in Sprint Qualifying at the Lusail International Circuit, beating George Russell and Lando Norris to the top spot on his final flying lap.
It was a scrappy and competitive session with many drivers bouncing through the numerous gravel traps as the track evolved, but the Australian prevailed while his rivals faced problems and errors that knocked them out of contention.
While Norris found the gravel on his last lap, Max Verstappen repeatedly reported issues with his Red Bull bouncing, which contributed to him ending the session in sixth place behind Fernando Alonso and Yuki Tsunoda.
Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton suffered another challenging session as he was knocked out in 18th place. His Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc also struggled to put together a strong lap, but he nevertheless broke into the top 10 and will start the Sprint from P9.
