Lewis Hamilton led his first session of the season as he topped the timesheets of the first practice session at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen.
Late in the session, Hamilton set a time of 1m 43.033s on the soft tyre to lead Verstappen by 0.084s. In P3 was Charles Leclerc, as the Ferrari driver shook off an early brake issue to lap 0.402s off Hamilton.
Hamilton’s team mate George Russell was fifth-fastest behind Sergio Perez – who suffered a driveshaft issue late in the session – while Carlos Sainz rounded out the top six.

Lance Stroll finished in P8, but his practice ended early after the Aston Martin driver made contact with the barriers at the exit of Turn 5 to bring out red flags.
