Max Verstappen secured his 10th Sprint pole in a dramatic session at the United States Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen took his third United States Grand Prix Sprint pole in succession, with a last-gasp effort to deny Lando Norris.
Verstappen continued to add pressure to Norris and Oscar Piastri by outqualifying the McLaren pair for Saturday's Sprint – the success is his 10th in Sprint Qualifying.
The opening phase of Sprint Qualifying came to a dramatic end, with Ollie Bearman, Yuki Tsunoda, Esteban Ocon, and Gabriel Bortoleto failing to reach the line in time to begin their final attempts - all of whom dropped out of the session.
Kimi Antonelli was the headline driver to exit in SQ2, as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton found late pace to make the top 10 for Ferrari.
