A nail-biting finale to the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix saw pole-sitter Carlos Sainz claim his second career victory, winning out in a dramatic end to the race that saw Mercedes’ Geroge Russell crash out from P3, as Lando Norris finished second.
Having nailed his start from P1, Sainz overcame a Safety Car restart before absorbing massive pressure in the final laps as the Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton closed up to the Spaniard and Norris on fresher tyres.
However, Russell wouldn’t see the chequered flag after crashing out at Turn 10 on the final lap, handing third place to Hamilton.
That means Sainz becomes the first non-Red Bull winner in 2023 – Max Verstappen ending his 10-race winning streak and coming home P5, just behind Charles Leclerc.
