IN NUMBERS: The records Antonelli has broken on the way to his maiden F1 title
It has been a season of breaking records for Kimi Antonelli, who has rewritten several chapters of the F1 history books en route to his first World Championship.

Kimi Antonelli has made history by becoming F1’s youngest-ever World Champion, the Italian sealing his maiden title in only his sophomore season – but that’s not the only record he has broken during his run to the crown.
F1.com has rounded up the historic feats achieved by Antonelli across his stunning 2026 campaign…
Youngest polesitter
Two rounds into the championship, Antonelli secured pole position for the first time at the Chinese Grand Prix. While he had previously taken the P1 slot in Sprint Qualifying during F1’s visit to Miami in 2025, this marked his maiden Grand Prix pole.
As such, the Mercedes driver became the sport’s youngest-ever polesitter at 19 years, six months and 18 days old – beating previous record holder Sebastian Vettel by some margin, the German having been 21 when he took his debut pole position at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.

Youngest winner from pole position
George Russell had emerged triumphant in the Sprint hours before his team mate claimed that historic pole position in Shanghai – but it was Antonelli’s turn to stand on the top step come Sunday.
The then-teenager put in an assured performance to convert his P1 grid slot into his debut win, making him the youngest driver to ever win from pole. Max Verstappen continues to hold the record for the sport’s youngest-ever winner, the Dutchman first tasting victory when he was 18 years old.
Youngest driver to lead the championship
Just two weeks after that success in China, Antonelli’s impressive run of form continued when he seized his second win at the Japanese Grand Prix – a feat that also saw him climb to the top of the drivers’ standings.
This also resulted in him breaking yet another record by becoming the youngest-ever leader of the World Championship at 19 years, seven months and four days old – beating the statistic previously held by Lewis Hamilton when he headed the table aged 22 in 2007.

First driver to win from first three pole positions
Having converted pole into a win both in China and Japan, the streak extended to three times in a row as Antonelli put in another strong drive at Round 4 in Miami.
As well as building his championship lead, this latest achievement saw Antonelli become the only driver in history to win from their first three pole positions.
Youngest winner of the Monaco Grand Prix
Antonelli ultimately scored five victories in a row across the opening stages of the season, adding two more consecutive triumphs to his name after his success in Miami.
Perhaps most notably, the fifth of these wins occurred at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Italian kept his composure around the tight and twisty streets of Monte Carlo to once again stand on the top step of the podium, making him the youngest-ever winner of the famed event.
Youngest driver to achieve a Grand Slam
A Grand Slam – when a driver starts from pole position, sets the fastest lap, leads the race from start to finish and achieves victory in one weekend – is an illustrious feat in F1. As things stand, only 29 drivers across the sport’s long history have one to their name.
Antonelli joined that list in Monaco, making him the youngest driver ever to earn this accolade.
First Italian home winner in 60 years
The Italian Grand Prix marked Antonelli’s seventh win of the season and perhaps one of his greatest moments so far, the Mercedes racer having risen from the back of the grid to the top step of the podium in front of his local crowd.
And as if that wasn’t special enough, the event was made all the sweeter for the driver from Bologna as he became the first Italian to triumph in their home race since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966.

First Italian World Champion in 73 years
Following on from that memorable victory at Monza, Antonelli has given Italy even more to cheer about by ending the country’s 73-year wait for their next World Champion.
The youngster is only the third Italian to take the crown; Giuseppe ‘Nino’ Farina was F1’s inaugural champion in 1950, before Alberto Ascari clinched back-to-back titles in 1952 and 1953.
Youngest World Champion
As mentioned earlier, one of the most talked-about statistics that Antonelli has now claimed is that of becoming Formula 1’s youngest-ever World Champion.
The record was previously held by Sebastian Vettel, who was 23 years, four months and 11 days old when he clinched his first title with Red Bull in 2010.
First driver born in the 2000s to become World Champion
The past five seasons have seen a driver born in the 1990s win the World Championship – that being Max Verstappen (the first from that decade to achieve the feat in 2021) and Lando Norris.
Antonelli, however, is the maiden title-winner born during the 2000s – 2006 to be exact, the same year in which fellow active champion Fernando Alonso took the crown for a second time.
