On the surface, Lewis Hamilton endured a challenging Belgian Grand Prix weekend in the upgraded Ferrari – but there were signs of promise beneath.
The seven-time World Champion spun out of SQ1 in Friday's Sprint Qualifying, before finishing Saturday's Sprint way down the field and then exited in Q1 of Grand Prix Qualifying later that same day. This was due to the deletion of his Q1 lap for track limits.
Rather than line up 16th on the grid, Ferrari elected to start him from the pit lane and, in that way, were able to switch him to a higher-downforce rear wing in anticipation of the forecasted rain.
