MUST-SEE: Listen in to Hamilton's emotional radio as he crosses the line in his final race for Mercedes
"I love you guys" – that was the message from Lewis Hamilton as he brought the curtain down on the most successful driver/team partnership in Formula 1 history at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
After 12 unfathomably successful seasons with Mercedes, a period that yielded six drivers' titles and eight constructors' triumphs, Hamilton is heading for pastures new with Ferrari next season.
But his final race for the Silver Arrows at the Yas Marina Circuit ended on a high, as the Briton overcame his qualifying disappointment to take P4 in the race – a last lap overtake on team mate George Russell sealing the deal.
And, after such a incredible period working together, Hamilton was understandably emotional after crossing the line as his team boss Toto Wolff and race engineer Pete Bonnington were quick to offer their congratulations.
