The McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris locked out the Barcelona front row in Qualifying. The next question is can anyone beat them to the first corner when the lights go out for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Best placed to challenge the orange cars in the long run to Turn 1 are Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell - who set identical Q3 lap times – and don’t dismiss the row-three starters of Lewis Hamilton in the Ferrari and the second Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.
Completing the top 10 on the grid are Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, rookie Isack Hadjar – after another superb Saturday in the Racing Bulls – and the Aston Martin of local hero Fernando Alonso, whose team mate Lance Stroll has withdrawn with a wrist injury.
STRATEGY GUIDE: What are the tactical options for the Spanish Grand Prix?
The other Spaniard in the field, Carlos Sainz, will line up 17th for Williams, ahead of only Franco Colapinto, whose Alpine hit technical problems in Qualifying, and Yuki Tsunoda who finished a very frustrated last on Saturday for Red Bull.
Tsunoda will commence the Grand Prix from the pit lane, after his team opted to make set-up changes on his car ahead of the race.
