After a wet and wild Qualifying session, it’s a familiar front row on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit with McLaren’s Lando Norris on pole from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. A less familiar sight is a Williams in P3, after a superb lap put Carlos Sainz just ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell.
Oscar Piastri’s title challenge keeps getting tougher after he could only place P5 for McLaren, with Liam Lawson heading a strong Racing Bulls challenge in sixth, separated from his eighth-placed team mate Isack Hadjar by the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso.
Completing the top 10 are Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. Meanwhile, in a shock result at the back, Lewis Hamilton ended up 20th for the Scuderia in Friday night's session – the first time in his career he has qualified last on pure pace.
Hamilton will move up one place on the grid, however, as Yuki Tsunoda starts from the pit lane. That's after Red Bull opted to change the power unit and set-up on the Japanese driver's car following his P19 Qualifying result.
