One overriding sentiment dominated the drivers’ thoughts in the wake of the Bahrain Grand Prix, with everyone expressing their relief and gratitude that Haas driver Romain Grosjean had escaped relatively unharmed from a fiery first-lap crash.
Leading the well-wishers was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who took his 11th win of the season, and 95th of his career, when the race restarted after a lengthy red-flag stoppage, as he led home the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen and Alex Albon – Albon benefitting from a late retirement from Sergio Perez to score the second podium of his career.
