Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the race down to the first corner during a dramatic start to Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix, with Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon and Yuki Tsunoda banging wheels.
Verstappen got off the line well to almost immediately clear Sainz, who attempted to regain the position around the outside of Turn 1, only to run out of room, take to the grass run-off and rejoin the action in P2.

Behind, there was contact involving Gasly on the right-hand side of the track, Albon in the middle and Tsunoda on the left-hand side, with the squeezed Williams tagging the RB into a wild spin and resulting in both drivers dropping out of the race.
While Lando Norris slotted into third from Charles Leclerc and the Mercedes drivers, home hero Sergio Perez was noted for a possible false start – a five-second penalty subsequently coming the Mexican’s way for being too far ahead of his grid box.
