Red Bull sign long-serving Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough

Long-time Aston Martin figure Tom McCullough is set to join Red Bull Racing in 2027 as their Head of Racing, it has been announced.

McCullough will make the move after a lengthy stint with Aston Martin and their previous guises, Racing Point and Force India, where he worked in various engineering roles.

At the start of 2025, as part of a senior leadership restructure, he was moved away from the Aston Martin F1 project and into another area of the business that focused on “the expansion of the team’s broader range of racing categories”.

Last month, it emerged that McCullough would be leaving Aston Martin at the end of the 2026 season, with his future plans unclear.

However, ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, Red Bull communicated McCullough’s impending arrival as the Milton Keynes-based squad look to rebuild their own senior leadership structure following several high-profile exits.

Max Verstappen’s Race Engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, is one of the most recent examples, with the Briton due to leave Red Bull when his current contract expires in 2028 and join McLaren as their Chief Racing Officer.

“We’re delighted to welcome Tom to the team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise he will bring to the role,” read a brief statement from Red Bull.

McCullough started his F1 career at Williams back in the early 2000s, spending around a decade with the outfit and then following up a brief spell at Sauber with a move to Force India.
