Vasseur confirms Ferrari will keep 'flip-flop' rear wing on the car in Miami

Team Principal Fred Vasseur has confirmed that Ferrari will keep their 'flip-flop' rear wing on the car during the Miami Grand Prix weekend.

The new-for-2026 regulations opened the door for teams to innovative under the new rules, with Ferrari catching the attention of many with its rotating rear wing at the start of the campaign.

The Scuderia first introduced the striking innovation on Day 2 of the second pre-season test in Bahrain, before using it in an official session for the first time during practice ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix.

The component flips completely upside down, creating a bigger gap for air to travel through and subsequently reducing drag when driving down the straights, in theory offering greater straightline speed.

During Friday's Teams Principals' press conference, Vasseur was asked whether the team would continue to use the 'macarena' rear wing after using it in the sole practice session ahead of Sprint Qualifying later.

"From today we will keep the macarena on the car," said Vasseur, with drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton set to use it on their SF26s for the first time in a race.

Ferrari's decision to use the 'flip-flop' rear wing comes as Red Bull arrive in Miami with a similar device of their own.

The team also used the device in Friday's practice sessions but it's unclear yet whether Max Verstappen or Isack Hadjar will use it for the remainder of the weekend.
