WATCH: Bearman suffers dramatic crash during Japanese Grand Prix
Ollie Bearman ended his Japanese Grand Prix in the wall after trying to pass Alpine's Franco Colapinto.
Ollie Bearman's Japanese Grand Prix came to a premature end as he suffered a massive crash that saw him hit the barriers after lining up an overtake on Alpine driver Franco Colapinto.
The Haas racer was looking to gain a position heading down to Spoon curve, but he was taken by surprise as Colapinto moved off the racing line and towards the middle of the track.
Bearman was subsequently forced to take avoiding action and ran onto the grass, ploughing through the distance boards. He was then thrown back across the circuit and over the run-off area, sending debris scattering before hitting the barrier sideways. The Safety Car was quickly sent out to slow down the pack as the Briton was shown limping from his car.
An update from Haas confirmed Bearman had an x-ray at the Medical Centre following the 50G impact, and fortunately the Briton had no fractures.
