It's been over 40 years since a Formula 1 car took part in a race in Las Vegas. But with the announcement that F1 will be heading for a night race on the city's streets in 2023, that's all set to change next November.
The 1982 Caesars Palace Grand Prix – the second F1 race to be held in Las Vegas, after the 1981 edition – was that year’s season finale, with the 75-lap encounter won by Italian driver Michele Alboreto for Tyrell.
The podium that day was completed by McLaren’s John Watson and Ligier’s Eddie Cheever – but all eyes were on the driver who claimed P5, with Williams racer Keke Rosberg sweeping to his first title, despite having only taken one race victory that season.
