WEEKEND WARM-UP: Can Ferrari bounce back in Montreal, as Latifi finally gets to contest a home race

Montreal has returned to the F1 calendar for 2022, and the drivers cannot wait to get going at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. For some it will be their first taste of action here, with the likes of Yuki Tsunoda, Mick Schumacher and Zhou Guanyu having never driven an F1 car in anger around this track thanks to the two-year hiatus.

Nicholas Latifi is another one to have missed out here, and in his third season in F1 he finally gets a chance to experience a home Grand Prix, as he explains just what it means to drive in front of his home crowd. George Russell has also been chatting about his expectations for the weekend, fresh from that podium in Baku, while all attention will be on the Ferrari pair when the track action gets under way.

With four wins from the last five races, Max Verstappen is in fine form – but he has never won in Montreal. He’ll have his hands full this weekend with his team mate pushing him hard, with Sergio Perez looking to return to the Montreal podium for the first time in 10 years.
