Why did F1 great Jim Clark never win at Monaco?

Hall of Fame F1 JournalistDavid Tremayne

When you look at Jim Clark’s towering ability, his record 25 victories from 72 Grands Prix between June 1962 and January 1967 (a strike rate of 34.7%) which included multiple victories in the British (five), Belgian (four), Dutch (four), South African (three) and US (three) Grands Prix, it seems utterly impossible that the same did not hold true at Monaco.

For reasons we shall see, the great Scot – still regarded by many as F1’s greatest driver – never took a single triumph in the Principality.
