F3: Zak O’Sullivan wins back-and-forth Feature Race in Spielberg

Zak O’Sullivan won his first FIA Formula 3 Feature Race with a measured drive in what was an unpredictable race in Spielberg. The PREMA Racing and Williams Academy driver started from sixth on the grid and came through to win, holding championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto at bay.
It was ART Grand Prix’s Gregoire Saucy that started from pole, and he held onto P1 during the early laps. Without DRS though and providing a tow for those behind, it was PREMA’s Dino Beganovic that seized the lead as Saucy’s tyres began to degrade. Bortoleto followed through with DRS assistance a few laps later.

The third PREMA of Paul Aron looked to make the same move on Saucy, but the pair made slight contact, putting both out of podium contention. From there, O’Sullivan picked one driver off at a time to rise up into the top three, eventually taking the lead from Bortoleto after Beganovic also dropped back with tyre wear issues.
The battle for the podium places went down to the last lap, as Williams Academy and MP Motorsport driver Franco Colapinto fought to hold off Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Sebastian Montoya.
The pair came to blows at Turn 6 though, forcing the Red Bull Junior Team driver across the gravel and down to 10th. Colapinto dropped to fourth, behind Caio Collet, who snuck through for his second P3 finish of the weekend.
