Ferrari go aggressive on Austin tyre choices
Pirelli have revealed the individual tyre selections for each driver ahead of the upcoming 2016 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, with Ferrari choosing a more aggressive strategy than their front-running Mercedes and Red Bull rivals.
The Italian manufacturer is providing its white-marked medium, yellow-marked soft and red-marked supersoft compounds for the Austin race, at the highly popular Circuit of The Americas.
Ferrari’s 13-set selections for both Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel comprise seven sets of the quickest supersoft tyre, five sets of the soft, and just one of the most durable medium.
By contrast, at Red Bull both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen will have four sets of the hard-wearing medium at their disposal, plus three of the softs and six of the supersofts.
Mercedes have gone somewhere in the middle. Championship leader Nico Rosberg has opted for two sets of mediums, five of softs and six of supersofts, while team mate Lewis Hamilton has selected three mediums, four softs and six supersofts.
The full selections are detailed below.
