Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked out the top-two places for McLaren during FP1 and FP2 in Hungary, but can any of their rivals close the gap?

McLaren set a scintillating pace on the opening day of practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix – the last event before the summer break – but can any of their rivals cause the championship leaders a headache as we head into the weekend?

McLaren continue supreme run of form

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri gapped the field on Friday, with the former – who trails the latter by 16 points in the championship – topping both of Friday's one-hour practice sessions.

And that was with both Norris and Piastri chasing cleaner laps – our ideal lap data suggesting Piastri could have been much quicker if he had got all his best mini-sectors together (the Australian left 0.28s on the table).
